Freedom unlocked with Samsung Galaxy as BMW car keys

- Samsung’s “Digital Key” turns select Samsung phones into car keys using NFC and UWB technology.
- Compatible phones: Galaxy S21, S22, S23, Note 20, Z Flip, Z Fold.
- Requirements: Compatible Samsung phone (Android 13+) and BMW car support.
After a significant wait, Android users can now enjoy a feature similar to the one offered by iOS 14, allowing iPhone owners to unlock select cars with their phones. Samsung has introduced “Digital Key,” a new feature that utilizes Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology found in Google Pay and Samsung Pay. It also incorporates ultra-wideband (UWB) technology from locator beacon devices. This combination enables owners of specific Samsung phone models to use their smartphones as car keys.

The feature is available on several Samsung phones, including all Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 models (including the S23 Ultra), as well as the non-S20 FE Galaxy S20 models, Galaxy Note 20 models, Galaxy Z Flip models (such as Z Flip 5G and Z Flip 4), and the Z Fold models.
To utilize this feature, you need to own one of the aforementioned Samsung phone models and have updated to Android 13 or later. Additionally, your BMW car must have support for BMW Teleservices, BMW Comfort Access, or BMW Digital Key. Most BMW models produced after July 2020 should be compatible.

Once the necessary technology is enabled, your Samsung phone will serve as both the car key and the ignition switch. Simply place your phone on the compatible wireless charging pad inside the car to start it. Samsung aims to simplify the daily experience for its customers and provide them with convenience and peace of mind through the secure hub within their smartphones, known as the Samsung Wallet Digital Key solution.
