Once you access the Gmail app, you will be introduced to the concept of generative AI through a welcoming prompt. Afterward, you will notice a “Help me write” button located at the bottom-right corner of the interface. By tapping this button, you can input a prompt or request, and then select the “Create” button, which is identifiable by a blue/purple wave animation. While the AI system processes your request, you have the option to generate a new response and provide feedback before inserting it into your message.

Once the text is entered in the compose feed, tapping the “Help me write” button again offers various ways to refine your message. These options include “Formalize” to make the text more professional, “Elaborate” to add more details, “Shorten” to make the message more concise, “I’m Feeling Lucky” to generate a response quickly, and “Write a draft” to compose an initial version. During this refining process, you will observe a pulsating icon indicating the progress of the AI system’s work. Upon completion, the tool will generate a new response, which you can choose to replace the existing text with.
