- The high-quality photo feature allows sending HD photos with compression, giving users more control.
WhatsApp, a popular messaging app owned by Meta, is introducing an updated emoji keyboard for selected beta testers on Android. According to reports, this redesigned keyboard offers users a better experience with improved visibility. By simply scrolling up, users can access a broader range of emojis.
The new emoji keyboard enhances scrolling functionality and introduces redesigned tabs for GIFs, stickers, and avatars. These tabs are conveniently placed at the top for easier navigation and accessibility. Initially, the redesigned emoji keyboard is being tested by a limited number of beta users, but it is expected to roll out to a wider audience in the coming weeks. WhatsApp has also recently introduced a new feature for Android and iOS beta users. This feature enables the sending of high-definition (HD) photos.
Although the goal is to preserve the original dimensions of the images, slight compression is applied to ensure efficient transmission. Therefore, sending photos in their exact original quality is not possible. By default, all pictures are set to “Standard quality.” However, users can manually select the HD option whenever they want to share an image with better quality. To indicate that a photo has been sent using the ‘high quality’ feature, a new tag will be added to the message bubble when the photo is sent.
This approach allows users to have the flexibility to choose their preferred level of quality, finding a balance between image resolution and file size. It gives users more control over their photo-sharing experience, ensuring they can enjoy high-quality visuals when desired. These updates aim to improve user satisfaction and provide a smoother and more enjoyable messaging experience on WhatsApp.
