- Disappointing telephoto camera with only 3x optical zoom compared to competitors.
The upcoming OnePlus is set to debut in December, and leaked specs are shedding light on what to expect, including a new chip and some surprising details about the telephoto camera.
According to @OnLeaks, the OnePlus 12 is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This chip is expected to offer significant improvements, although Qualcomm will announce official details in October.
Other reported specifications include a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a minimum of 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The device is said to run on Android 14, retain an in-display fingerprint scanner, and feature the brand’s signature Alert Slider. One area of potential improvement is the battery, with the smartphone rumored to have a larger 5,400mAh capacity compared to the OnePlus 11’s 5,000mAh. Charging remains at 100W, but there are indications that wireless charging may return at 50W.
However, the telephoto camera on the upcoming OnePlus has raised some disappointment. It is reported to offer only 3x optical zoom, much lower than competing devices such as Google’s Pixel 7 Pro with 5x zoom and Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra with 10x telephoto lens.
