Earlier leaks indicated that the Z Flip 5’s external screen may measure approximately 3.4 inches, a significant upgrade from the Flip 4’s 1.9-inch panel. Although slightly smaller than the Moto Razr+’s 3.6-inch screen, the Flip 5 is expected to offer a larger cover display compared to devices like the Oppo Find N2 Flip and Vivo X Flip.
From the marketing image, it is evident that the cover display can be used as a viewfinder for dual cameras. Additionally, it will feature a convenient Now Playing widget, allowing easy control of music playback directly from the cover screen. Google has plans to optimize popular apps such as Maps, YouTube, and Messages for the Flip 5’s outer display, enabling users to access navigation directions or send messages without having to open the phone.

Samsung intends to optimize its own apps to take advantage of the expanded screen real estate. Further details regarding these optimizations are likely to be revealed at the company’s Unpacked event in late July unless they are leaked beforehand.
Minor changes are expected for the Flip 5, with Samsung focusing primarily on internal upgrades. This includes the adoption of a more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 “for Galaxy” chip, 8GB of RAM, and faster UFS 4.0 storage.
