- The update includes a new feature called ‘Companion Mode’ that allows users to connect four different smartphones to the same account.
- Beta testers will ensure the feature is ready for launch due to security risks.
Whatsapp is here with another Beta update. Its new beta for Android v2.23.8.2 is rolling out soon for those who registered themselves as Beta tester back in November. This new beta update will feature some unique addition to the Whatsapp app.
Introducing the all-new Whatsapp ‘Companion Mode.’ This feature allows you to connect 4 different smartphone devices at once with the same Whatsapp account. Yes, you heard that right. 4 different smartphones with a single account. Before this update, this was just a sweet dream for Whatsapp users, but now this dream is turning into a reality.

Do not confuse this feature with the ‘Linked Devices’ feature. Linked devices only allowed you to connect a Desktop, Laptop, Table, and phone. But with companion mode, you can connect 4 different smartphones and use the same account on them at the same time.
Beta users will test this feature to ensure whether this feature is ready enough to be launched. As with multiple devices, there comes the risk of hacking and misuse as well. So let’s wait till the official release for the full availability of the feature.
To summarize, Whatsapp beta Android v2.23.8.2 introduced a new Companion mode feature that allows you to connect 4 smartphones with the same account. Beta users who enrolled in the beta program will have this update available for them in Play Store.
